This is my 2025 gear list. This will be the start of an annual tradition.

Why a gear list?
I want you to have full transparency of the gear that I actually own and use. There is a lot of gear that I get to borrow, test, or buy that I end up returning or not actually using. The less change year over year will show that I am getting closer to an optimal gear list. I think I have made steps to reaching this but I have not made a blog post about the past gear. With this post every year, I can track how many changes I actually make and file a detailed report of my personal and industry trends in gear. I may end up making a historical gear list of my recollection of the gear I owned from 2018-2024.
Why is your gear list important?
Well, I have bought and sold around $25k+ worth of gear every year since I started photography. I love Facebook Marketplace, eBay, and borrowing gear from friends. I have had the privilege of testing out so much gear and acquiring a ton of knowledge on what makes each brand special. I get early access to a lot of gear which means that I know when I want to swap out and purchase the new item earlier. If I test something that is truly great, then it will enter my gear list immediately. Despite using so much gear, there are usually a few pieces of equipment that I cling on to each year. The rest is just temporary and exits my lineup as fast as it entered.
Do you think you have the best available gear on this list?
No. I don’t think this is the best gear. A lot of the gear just works for me. Most of the gear is wildly expensive and there are equivalent or better options for less money. In fact, I would probably recommend selling your expensive gear and getting that equivalent piece of gear for less and investing the rest of your money. This is simply my gear list, not my gear recommendations. If you think that gear recommendations are more important then a gear list then let me know and I can create that post!
Will you go in-depth about each piece of gear on this list?
No. I could truly write for hours and hours about what makes each piece on this list special to me. It is mostly the functionality, but some of them are simply the aesthetics or sentimental value. People will probably disagree with a lot of the reasons that I use some of this gear, so I keeping this list simple. I will dive deeper into my favorite pieces of gear in dedicated reviews.
